Jerry Burrey ’65 was inducted into Bluffton’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020 for his performance in basketball and baseball. A four-year starter in basketball, Jerry earned all Mid-Ohio Conference second team honors in his junior year and first team honors his senior year. He was the MVP of the Flint Holiday Tournament in 1964-65 and scored 1,181 points in his career at Bluffton. He remains in Bluffton’s record books as 19th in scoring and 13th in field goals.
On the field, Jerry was a four-year letterman. Highlights of his baseball career include pitching a no-hitter against Ashland College and securing an undefeated season as a starting pitcher.
Jerry was previously inducted into the Hall of Fame with the 1962 baseball team coached by A.C. Burcky. The team went 10-4 on the season and 8-2 in conference play.
A 1965 graduate, Jerry earned a degree in biology. He worked in public education for 33 years serving as a teacher, head basketball coach, head baseball coach, athletic director and guidance counselor. He retired as the owner/operator of a car dealership in Mount Victory, Ohio, in 2016. Jerry is married to Karen Burrey and they have three children, including 2002 graduate Kim (Burrey) McMillen, and six grandchildren.
